Graduation

Life has been very exciting this year. We started off the year with Liston working as a Graduate Associate for the Oklahoma State University department of Industrial Engineering, and Caroline working at the Payne County Youth Shelter and the Stillwater S enior Citizen's Center. Caroline Graduated in May with her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In the fall, Liston continued his Graduate work teaching FORTRAN computer language, and doing research for the Phoenix Fire Department. Liston also added creating homepages to his responsibilities. Caroline started her job as a Graduate Assistant establishing jobs and working with employers for the Work-Study program.

Extracurricular Activities

We seem to always make time to be involved wih community and campus organizations. This year, Liston continued his involvement with Student Government Association as Senator and committee chair, Off-Campus Student Association as Representative, Institute of Industrial Engineers as Vice President, Allied Arts Selection Committee, and various campus-wide committees. Caroline was busy volunteering at Skyline and Richmond Elementary Schools. We have both been very involved with the rechartering of Alpha P hi Omega National Service Fraternity and had our official rechartering ceremony on December 16th. One of the neatest Service Projects we did this semester was being "victims" for the First Aid portion of a competitive Boy Scout Camporee. Liston was ma de up as a hiking accident victim complete with fake blood and skin. The scouts had to keep the victim calm while attending to his wounds and broken limbs. We also had the opportunity to do service projects that involved painting the Salvation Army Chur ch, a Park Clean up, and Kids' Night Out.

What's New?

We have had a very exciting year when it comes to new things. We started out by eating blizzards at the new Stillwater Dairy Queen and then experienced a blizzard of own throughout a winter night (4-6 inches) in February. This was Caroline's first time seeing a lot of snow and it was perfect for making snowmen and playing. We continued our new trend by finding an awesome townhouse to live in this fall, and since we had such a nice place, we got a nice squishy couch to put in our living room. On Memori al Day we bought a '95 Azure Mazda Protege' with power everything and then on Gillian's Birthday (July 22nd) we bought a '95 Raspberry GMC Sonoma Extended Cab Truck with a sunroof! We were also fortunate enough to be able to eat at Stillwater's Brand Ne w Red Lobster the first day it opened! Yes, we definitely spoiled ourselves with newness.

Heartbreak Summer

While summer plans were still up in the air, Liston worked hard during the entire month of April getting his Lifeguard Certification so that he could spend the summer on Florida's beaches getting a good tan and saving some lives while Caroline worked at B oyd Hill Nature Park giving tours and teaching summer camp. By a stroke of good fortune, Liston was offered a really good summer internship at Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio. As part of his internship, Liston had to make numerous trip to St. Louis to work with engineers at McDonnell Douglas where he spend half the summer. Needless to say, Liston did not get a very tan :-( By spending the summer apart which we plan to never do again, we racked up over 35,000 frequent flier miles visiting all the major air ports. We also spent a lovely anniversary weekend in Columbus, Ohio where Joyce served us a lovely anniversary dinner and watch Uncle John play baseball with Hall of Famers. One perk to the summer was the opportunity to spend nearly a week together in d owntown St. Louis touring all the hot spots, including the arch, the zoo, and a Casino!

And then there was the traveling:

Not only did we do a ton of travel in the summer, but we also have gone on several trips this year. Caroline started things off by attending a conference in Phoenix in the Spring dealing with volunteerism. We both went to Arkansas over Spring Break whe re we got the oppotunity to build trail in the Buffalo River National Park. Have you ever seen Caroline smash rocks with a sledge hammer? - It is quite a site! Then Mom Brown and Gillian came to visit us and we went to the medieval Fair in Norman, OK wi th them. At the beginning of the summer we went to Ft. Lauderdale to see Grandpa Charlie and Ann. Upon our return to Stillwater, A couple of friends took us to the Illinois river to go rafting. It was too much fun! (the most sun Liston got all summer) Finally, we got to fly together for the first time EVER as we went to Errol and Mary's wedding in Tallahassee. On the way back from the wedding we managed to get bumped off of our plane and are planning to use the tickets to go to Puerto Vallarta with some friends in 1996. Our next trip was a weekend jaunt to a conference in Norman, Oklahoma for Alpha Phi Omega. We next attended Gillian's Navy Boot Camp Graduation in Chicago, and then went to Indianapolis to visit with Caroline's relatives for the we ekend. We are planning to finish the year out right by driving to Florida and spending the holidays with our parents.

Coming Soon:

We are in the process of looking for jobs. Liston is looking for an Industrial Engineering or Management Position, and Caroline is looking for a Teaching, Human Resources, or some sort of Professional Community Service position. If anyone has any sugges tions we would really appreciate hearing from you! Our future location is really up in the air...
